Why your website isn't converting, and how to fix it

Traffic without enquiries usually means the problem is on the page, not in the ads. Here are the usual culprits, and the fixes.
If people are landing on your website but not enquiring or buying, it is tempting to blame the traffic. Usually the problem is on the page. Here are the most common reasons a site fails to convert, and how to fix each one.
The first is that it is not clear what you do. A visitor should understand what you offer and who it is for within seconds of landing. If your headline is clever but vague, people leave. Say plainly what you do and who you do it for, above the fold, before anything else.
The second is trust, or the lack of it. People buy from businesses they trust, and trust is built in seconds through the quality of the design, visible proof such as reviews, work and clients, and plain clarity. A site that looks generic or dated loses the sale before a single word is read.
The third is friction. Every extra step, field or decision loses people: long forms, buried contact details, unclear next steps. Make the action you want obvious and easy, and ruthlessly remove everything standing in its way.
The fourth is the absence of a clear next step. Many sites describe the business beautifully and then leave the visitor with nothing to do. Every page should offer one obvious action, whether that is enquire, book, buy or call.
If your site gets traffic but no enquiries, the problem is almost never the traffic.
The fifth is mobile. Most of your visitors are on a phone. If the site loads slowly or is fiddly to use on a small screen, they are gone, and search engines notice the same problems and mark you down for them.
The sixth is that the site talks about you rather than them. Visitors care about their problem, not your history. Lead with what they get and the problem you solve, then back it up with the detail.
The way to fix all of this is not to guess but to look at the evidence: where people drop out, what the analytics say, what a quick expert review reveals. Fix the biggest leaks first. More often than not, a handful of focused changes move the numbers more than a full rebuild would.
